Kali Chased A Red Balloon On His Birthday — Because It Was The Only Gift Life Had Given Him

by Ack1fastonlinevn

Kali was a tiny white puppy with fluffy fur that looked like a little cloud.

He was unbelievably cute.

But life on the streets had not been kind to him.

Small patches of fur had fallen out from his body because of a skin condition, leaving tiny bare spots on his back and neck.

Even so, whenever someone looked at him, Kali would still wag his little tail.

He still believed people could be kind.

Today was his very first birthday.

Exactly one year ago, he had opened his eyes for the first time.

But no one remembered.

No one even knew his name.

Kali woke up beneath the roof of a narrow alley where he slept every night.

His bed was nothing more than a worn piece of cardboard lying against an old brick wall.

He stretched his tiny body and began another long day searching for food.

He wandered through busy streets, sniffing beside cafés, restaurants, and garbage bins.

The delicious smell of fresh bread and birthday cakes filled the air.

His stomach growled louder with every passing hour.

As the sun began to set, Kali stopped in front of a beautiful cake shop.

Behind the large glass windows, a family was celebrating a birthday.

A fluffy little dog sat proudly on a chair wearing a colorful birthday hat.

A cake covered with cream and strawberries stood in the middle of the table.

Everyone laughed.

Children clapped their hands while singing “Happy Birthday.”

The little birthday dog happily wagged its tail as its family hugged it.

Kali quietly sat outside the window.

He pressed his tiny nose against the cool glass.

His bright eyes never left the celebration.

He wasn’t jealous.

He wasn’t begging.

He was only wondering what it felt like to have someone celebrate your birthday.

What it felt like to hear your name spoken with love.

After a few quiet moments, Kali lowered his head.

He slowly walked away.

Those smiles belonged to someone else.

Dark clouds soon covered the sky.

Rain began falling across the city.

People hurried home beneath colorful umbrellas.

Kali continued walking alone.

His fluffy white fur quickly became soaked.

The little bare patches on his body made him shiver in the cold wind.

Then something bright flew past him.

A red balloon danced through the rain, pushed by the wind.

Tied beneath it was a rainbow-colored birthday hat sparkling with seven beautiful colors.

Someone had accidentally let it go after a birthday party.

The balloon bounced across puddles and floated farther down the street.

Kali’s ears stood up.

For the first time all day, excitement filled his eyes.

He began running after it.

His tiny paws splashed through the rain.

The balloon drifted around a corner before becoming tangled on a low fence.

Breathing heavily, Kali gently caught the string in his mouth.

The bright red balloon floated above his little head while the rainbow birthday hat swung beneath it.

It was the most beautiful thing he had ever held.

Slowly, he carried it back through the quiet streets.

People turned to look at the tiny white puppy walking alone with a balloon floating behind him.

Some smiled sadly.

Some wondered where he was going.

But Kali kept walking until he reached the narrow alley he called home.

He carefully laid the balloon beside his old cardboard bed.

Then he picked up the rainbow birthday hat and gently placed it on his fluffy head.

It slipped over one ear.

He gave a tiny shake, trying to straighten it.

For a moment, the lonely alley looked almost magical.

The bright red balloon floated quietly above him.

The colorful hat rested proudly on his head.

There was still no birthday cake.

No candles.

No presents.

No family.

Only a little white puppy…

A red balloon carried by the wind…

And a rainbow birthday hat that someone else had thrown away.

Kali curled himself into a tiny ball on the cardboard.

The rain slowly faded.

Above him, the balloon swayed gently in the evening breeze.

Before closing his eyes, Kali looked up at the floating balloon.

His little tail wagged once.

Maybe the whole world had forgotten his birthday.

But somehow…

The wind had remembered.

And on the loneliest birthday of his life, it had delivered the only gift he would receive—a bright red balloon, a rainbow birthday hat, and one small reason to keep believing that someday, someone would find him and love him forever.
