On My Birthday, I Lay Alone in the Grass, Waiting for a Friend Who Never Came

A Small Dog Waiting Alone

Today was my birthday.

I lay quietly in the grass, resting my head on my paws. The wind moved through the field, and I kept looking around, hoping to hear familiar footsteps.

I waited for someone to call my name. I waited for a gentle hand to touch my head. But the yard stayed silent.

No Warm Voice, No Birthday Hug

I did not need a big party. I did not need toys or treats.

I only wanted someone to notice me.

Every sound made my ears lift. Every shadow made me hope someone was coming. But each time, I was wrong.

So I lowered my head again and stayed still in the grass.

A Lonely Birthday in the Field

Other days, I try to run, wag my tail, and follow anyone who passes by. But today, my legs felt heavy.

I watched the world move around me, while I remained in the same place, small and forgotten.

My birthday came, but no one sat beside me. No one held me close. No one made me feel loved.

Still Waiting for One Kind Heart

Even though I was alone, I kept waiting.

Maybe someone would see me. Maybe someone would stop. Maybe one kind person would understand that an old, quiet dog still needs love.

So I stayed there in the grass, with sad eyes and a tired heart, hoping my birthday would not end without a little kindness.

I am alone on my birthday, no wishes
